FAQs

.How do I book?

Give us a call on 01603 627316 to speak to one of our lovely staff or email us any questions and enquiries you might have. We update portfolios regularly but the most up to date ones can be found on our Instagram and each artists personal page is linked there.

What kind of credentials do you carry?

We are a fully licensed studio and each artist is individually licensed through the local council. We have a full range of hospital grade sterilisation equipment and each artist cleans their stations between each client with high strength, lab standard chemicals. We have also completed cross contamination and first aid courses and each artist underwent multi year apprenticeships in studios.

Which forms of payment do you accept?

We can take cash or bank transfer as you pay your individual artist at the end of your session. There is a cash point just across the road.

Ani and Bradley both accept card payments

How long do gift cards last?

5 years from the date of purchase

Do you have parking?

The Cathedral retail park is a short walk and allows 2 hours for free. There is a pay and display on St Benedicts Street for around £1.50 per hour or £5 a day. There is occasional short term parking behind the garage down Lothian street. St Andrews car park is a 5 minute walk away and for limited mobility clients we can make sure there is an available space for you where our artists usually park.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Yes. We have a portable ramp for wheelchair users (this will be upgraded in the new year, 2026) however currently our toilets can be tricky to navigate because of limited space. This is also being addressed in the new year and we think we have a solution. Anyone with worries is more than welcome to come by before any booking to assess if the set up is suitable and we will take any suggestions on board to make the place as accessible as possible.

Is the studio open plan?

The main stations are in an open plan layout, however we do have two private rooms for intimate tattoos or anyone that requests it. For any clients with anxiety issues or are neurodiverse and would really benefit from out of hours sessions in a more calm, closed environment we would be happy to help. However, the waiting list can be longer for these sessions as the times are a bit more limited and depend on an artists schedule.

What should I bring with me for my session and how should I prepare?

You can bring all your creature comforts! Pillows and blankets from home are absolutely fine as long as they're clean and you're welcome to bring anything to entertain yourself such as books, headphones and tablets. We have snacks and hot and cold drinks on hand for clients but for longer sessions it is encouraged to bring a lunch. Make sure you have a good breakfast and there is a cracking cafe across the street that serves very nice hot food all day. There is also a newsagents, garage and co-op a short walk away.

Shower the day of your appointment and for extra brownie points keep up with exfoliating and moisturising your skin on the days and weeks leading up to your session. Show up sober and as well rested as you can.

What about aftercare?

Your artist will go over all the instructions at the end of your session and you will be wrapped in either an adhesive patch or cling film. We'll give you an instruction sheet and recommendations on what products to use to help healing.

Can I use numbing cream?

It is best to chat with your artist before hand if you would like to use it. Legally we cannot provide it and recommend not using anything more than 5% strength.

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course! We have plenty of room and sometimes a buddy to chat to really helps the time fly.

Can I get tattooed/pierced under 18 with parental consent?

You cannot, under any circumstances, get tattooed under the age of 18. It is illegal in the UK.

Piercings vary by type. We can do lobes from 11+ and facial/other piercings vary with parental consent from 14+ (nostril, labret, ear cartilage) or 16+ (brow, bridge, navel).

It is best to give us a call or email to confirm. We do not currently offer tongue or genital piercings.

How does your merch shop work?

Everything is print on demand, this helps us keep the operation as eco friendly as possible and eliminate waste. Ani spent a year testing suppliers and making sure each print comes out hard wearing and excellent quality. This also means we have a whole range of sizes and colours available and can keep prices reasonable. It takes 2-3 days to create and so we could keep shipping free they'll take 5-10 days to arrive (mainland uk only).

Rates

Our rates are: £80 an hour or £350-£400 per day

You may be given a set quote after a consultation, these may be subject to change with any design changes so always check with your artist at your appointment.

Booking

In order to book an appointment with us you will need to leave a deposit. Deposits (also known as a booking fee) are non-refundable and are taken off the total cost of your tattoo at the end of your session. We require £100 deposit for a day session or £20 per hour booked. If you need to reschedule we require 72 hours notice (by phone or in person, not via e-mail or Facebook message), any less than this and we will retain your deposit.

If you must reschedule, please note that we will retain your deposit when rescheduling a second time. This means you will have to place down another deposit if you wish to book in again.

Getting tattooed

Please be prepared to bring photographic ID with you on the day of your appointment. If you have booked a day session please be prepared to sit for the whole day or let us know at least 72 hours in advance if you require less time or you may still be charged the day rate.
